Yesterday was the first day of Renton City Comic-Con. This year was its second time running said event. I just found it fascinating that there were all these events that started to pop out from seemingly nowhere. Now I know it’s because they really have just been popping up more recently.

I may not be much of a comic book person myself, but I still find the community to be similar to an anime convention. Obviously different focus, but these things tend to intersect as far as interests go. Several people who are usually into anime often have also dipped their feet into the Marvel and DC side of things. In any case, I decided to attend because I had anticipated a lot of cosplays. The other attendees did not disappoint.

One thing I did not anticipate happening was getting to know other photographers. In events like Sakura-Con, PAX, etc, I’m always moving around looking for people to take pictures of. The area RenCon took place at had perhaps the perfect central area for us to take pictures of cosplayers at. Of course, if there were no cosplays to take pictures of at the time, we all just stood around. I think interacting with other photographers would have been inevitable at that point. It was pretty interesting getting to know the ones I did end up chatting with! I then became a bit of a creep taking pictures of them as well~ Ahaha 😀

Of course, let’s not forget one of the better things about attending cons: discovering new foods
