Last Sunday McDonalds held an event in Seattle’s International District called Dragon Fest. This was the weekend right after a friend and I would come back from Texas. I had contemplated on whether or not I wanted to go for a while. It was when I heard several of my friends were going to attend on Sunday that broke the camel’s back and I finally decided to go as well.

In their own words, Dragon Fest is as described:
This summer festival is the largest annual Asian American celebration in the Pacific Northwest. Centered in the heart of Seattle’s historic Chinatown-International District, Dragon Fest attracts more than 30,000 people over two days and features a line-up of over 20 cultural performances with everything from the spirited Chinese lion and dragon dances, to captivating martial arts demonstrations and Japanese Taiko drumming. Bounded by the iconic Chinese Gate and beautiful Hing Hay Park, this Seafair Festival brings the streets to life with historic walking tours, a large-scale outdoor Asian market and cultural activities for people of all ages.
They also have an official website where you can find more details about them here.
Of course, what had attracted both me and several of my other friends was the fact there would be people going to Dragon Fest in cosplay. Considering it had been quite some time since Sakura-Con, I thought it would be nice to get back into taking pictures. What I had not taken in account, however, was just how sunny it would be. As a result, there are some pictures I’m not exactly proud of and wished I had brought my diffuser with me. Nevertheless, I thought the festival was a rather enjoyable one and definitely worth going to again!
One thing I definitely will have to invest in next time… a proper zoom lens. My prime lens just wasn’t doing the job for this stage photography. Really my first time with stage photography.
